Racking System at CEC Will Hold 1,104 Solar Panels
The Planada Elementary School District is in the process of building a Solar Farm at both Planada Elementary School and Cesar E. Chavez Middle School. The project was made possible through a Solar Power Purchase Agreement (SPPA) with Solar Monkey, which is a financial arrangement in which a third-party developer owns, operates, and maintains the photovoltaic (PV) system, and the District then purchases the system’s electric output from the solar services provider for a predetermined period. This financial arrangement allows the District to receive stable and lower cost electricity. The District anticipates a first year savings of nearly $28,000 in energy costs, a total of $350,000 in savings by year 10, and $1.2 million over the 20 year term of the SPPA.
